Course Overview
Organisation for Early Literacy Promotion (OELP) is launching an introductory course for educators to build strong conceptual understanding of doable classroom practices to support the delivery of (a) foundational skills for school-based learning, and (b) foundational and higher-order skills for reading and writing. The course is available as 10 modules in both English and Hindi.
The online course offers byte-sized videos shot in real-time classroom contexts, uses a mix of learning strategies (like self-paced, reflection questions) to connect with course objectives in a meaningful way, offers a curated set of readings, and provides quizzes and self-assessments to help participants apply learning into real-world contexts. An indicative list of practices that you would be able to learn are as follows:
- facilitating smooth transitions from the home environment to the structured school environment while honouring learner diversity
- establishing responsive learning environments and effective classroom management techniques which are developmentally appropriate and engaging.
- using strategies to work with young learners who are engaging with print for the first time when they enter school.
- learning strategies to help children construct and recognise meaningful words understanding ways to build reading comprehension and writing skills in early grade classrooms.
Course Details
Audience: Educators, teachers, education practitioners, and education administrators working with Grades 1-3.
Duration (no. of days): 90 days for 10 modules (approximately a week for each module)
The modules are designed to be self-paced, allowing participants to progress through the course at their own speed.
We anticipate that each module will require no more than 2 hours to complete, however each module will be accessible for a duration of 1 week, during which course participants will be required to complete the module.

Language(s): English and Hindi (the course draws upon real time classroom videos to demonstrate classroom practices. They are largely self explanatory with Hindi voice over)
