Approaches to teaching and learning

An assignment will be set upon completion of each module, to be turned in within a stipulated amount of time. Each participant will be assigned one mentor for support and guidance during and in-between each module. A group feedback session will be held after each module and before the beginning of the next for peer review and faculty feedback.

Course Prerequisites

  • Access to classrooms or other learning environments.
  • A working knowledge and familiarity with computer applications, terminology and functionality is required
  • At least two years’ classroom teaching experience is desirable, however not mandatory

Dr. Tapaswini Sahu - Academic Director

Tapaswini has been involved with several school reform projects focusing on curriculum planning and implementation, professional development of teachers, assessment and evaluation of children and led the project for developing the “National Education Framework” for Bhutan. Tapaswini has a Doctorate in Educational Psychology from Jawaharlal Nehru University and an M.Phil in Education from Cambridge University.

Smriti has been a teacher for over 16 years, and worked extensively on developing a project based learning curriculum while working on instructional coaching. Smriti has a Masters in Learning, Teaching and Instructional Leadership, from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Harvard University.

Dr. Bindiya Hassaram - Academic Coordinator

Bindiya holds a Ph.D. in Multicultural Special Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She has worked as a learning specialist with students identified with learning differences and those at-risk at international schools in Indonesia, India, the UK and the US. Bindiya also works extensively with adults, providing workshops on various topics including differentiated instruction, inclusion, teaching reading and writing to students with learning differences, and culturally responsive instruction. She provides coaching and supervision for student and novice teachers. Bindiya is the founder of Learning Differently, an organization that advocates for inclusive schools and works with teachers to create classroom environments where all students can be successful.
