About This Course
This course invites educators to reimagine teaching and learning by integrating nature, experience, and a holistic understanding of the learner. It responds to a growing need to move beyond purely academic and outcome-driven approaches, and to strengthen ecological awareness, experiential learning, and socio-emotional development in education.Course Objectives
The course aims to:- Build a holistic and ecological perspective on education
- Strengthen understanding of experiential and learner-centred pedagogies
- Enable participants to design context-based, inquiry-driven learning experiences
- Support shifts in mindset and teaching practice
- Facilitate integration of nature-based approaches into ongoing work
Course Structure
The course is designed as a blended learning journey, including:- In-person residential modules for immersive, hands-on learning
- Online modules to build continuity and deepen specific themes
- Ongoing engagement through assignments, reflection, and mentorship
Course Content
The course will broadly cover:- Experiential and inquiry-based teaching-learning methodologies
- Designing lesson plans and learning experiences
- Building holistic and ecological perspectives on education
- Enabling mindset shifts in teaching practice
- Integrating new approaches into existing systems and processes
Course Pedagogy
The programme adopts a participatory and collaborative approach, including:- Peer learning across diverse contexts

Course Requirements
Participants are expected to:- Attend all modules (in-person and online)
- Commit ~3 hours per week for assignments and reflection
- Participate in monthly mentor check-ins
- Actively apply learning within their work contexts

Facilitators
Farah Khan
Facilitator, Trainer and Educationist with an experience of 26 years. Has been organising and anchoring group training programs and mentoring leaders and individuals for their professional development. Has a deep understanding of institutional and organizational processes and strong administrative skills. A trained facilitator in Applied Behavioural Science (Foundation for Human Learning and Growth-Aastha), she has been anchoring group process labs for more than two decades. As an educationist, she has established processes and practices and designed curriculum that fosters holistic development of children and creates a conducive environment for relaxed and joyful learning. A certified MBTI practitioner and adept at using many psychometric instruments and Systems Thinking tools. She brings creativity in designing workshops that are interactive and engaging. Have been training and mentoring educators for their professional development.
Currently, she is a facilitator at Bhoomi College and hold sessions for the fellowship programs offered by the college and the governing council member of FHLG-Aastha.
Ishita Bose Sarkar
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Ishita began her journey as an artist in the advertising world. But in 1990, her path took a turn toward education — a space where art, learning, and human connection could blend naturally. Since the initial years of Prakriya Green Wisdom School, she has held many roles as Coordinator and Head Mistress, helping shape a culture that celebrates curiosity, creativity and sustainability. Over the years, she has anchored many imaginative productions that bring together art, music, and community. Ishita continues her work as a facilitator and mentor at Bhoomi College, where she is the director for Teach For Nature fellowship program and leads sessions on education, sustainable living, art, and music. She has completed her internship in process work and has been facilitator for several Bhoomi’s programmes for over two decades now.
Rema Kumar
Rema Kumar is an educationist with over 30 years of teaching experience. She has been closely associated with Prakriya Green Wisdom School, Bengaluru since its early years, playing a key role in co-creating and nurturing a vision of education that is deeply humanising and aligned with nature’s principles. She is a trustee of the KNA Foundation for Education and has been a facilitator with Bhoomi College since its inception. A passionate educator, Rema brings a deep interest in ecology and education for more mindful, sustainable living. Trained as a human process facilitator, she is also an avid reader and a gifted storyteller. She thrives on stories of hope and shares them generously, inspiring those around her.
Jaya Rakesh K
Jaya Rakesh is a dedicated naturalist with a deep passion for nature education. Trained as a mechanical engineer, his journey took a meaningful turn when his fascination with butterflies opened up a larger curiosity about the interconnectedness of ecosystems. Following this calling, he worked as a naturalist at Kanha National Park, where he engaged visitors from around the world through guided nature walks and safaris, sharing his knowledge of flora and fauna with warmth and insight.
He currently serves as a mentor and nature educator at Bhoomi, facilitating both in-house and outdoor learning experiences for Teach for Nature (TFN) fellows. Beyond his formal role, Jaya actively contributes to citizen science initiatives, particularly in the areas of birds, trees, and biodiversity, continuing to deepen both his own learning and that of the communities he engages with.
Murtuza Khetty
Murtuza Khetty is a theatre educator, facilitator, and director based in Bengaluru, with 18 years of experience. He has worked extensively with schools, children, and teachers, using theatre to spark curiosity, creativity, and deeper learning. Passionate about capacity building among educators, he conducts workshops that help teachers bring theatre techniques into the classroom, making learning more engaging and inclusive. Murtuza’s work also extends to life skills education, supporting children and adolescents as they explore themes like resilience, emotional well-being, rejection, and failure—empowering them to develop empathy, confidence, and critical self-awareness through creative expression.
